Released in 1986. Produced by Todd Rundgren. In interviews, Andy Partridge has often said that the Rundgren was difficult to work with and that he disagreed with Rundgren's choices during the recording -- but upon reflection is very happy with the way the album turned out. This album has a very "Beatlesque" feel to it. Often cited as XTC's best album. Initially released with "Mermaid Smiled" in the UK, but then new pressings had "Dear God" added after it became a minor hit on alternative charts Despite all that in November 22, 2010 Ape Records re-issued Skylarking on remastered 45RPM vinyl covered in the original artwork and –supposedly– correct track-order.
