Silver Bell was intended to be Patty Griffin's third album, but went unreleased by A&M Records, which scrapped its 2000 release after being bought by Interscope. This spurred Griffin to leave the label and sign to Dave Matthews' ATO Records. However, several songs from the Silver Bell sessions were leaked out. The album was eventually released thirteen years later, by A&M, on October 8th 2013. "Silver Bell," is a powerful, heartfelt collection of folk-rock songs intended for release in 2000, has sat on Universal Music's shelves for 13 years – having gotten lost in the shuffle during a regime change at her then-label A&M Records.
