Haystax is a dutch band, founded in in early 2001. They started out as a one-time-joke on a local festival where they played 5 songs. The crowd loved them and a new band was born. As the name states (Hay - haystack & Stax - the famous soul label), haystax play “soul the way it was intended to be played; HillBilly Style” After a few years the word Soul was replaced by the word music, as they now played all kinds of different artists such as Prince, Michael Jackson and Abba. During in the first 7 years, Haystax released the album “Showdown in motor city”. According to the famous dutch magazine Oor, this might well have been the “best selling album under no label in 2002”. In 2004, Haystax toured New Zealand for 5 weeks. They also played in Germany and the Uk. On the album different guest stars appear such as Eddie Floyd and the Three Degrees. Haystax also supported and played with the Supremes and some recordings where made with Tavares. In 2005/2006, Haystax stopped because of the frontman leaving the band. In 2009 they started again with a new frontman and a new bassplayer. They now also play some unique cross-over combinations with (wind)orchestra’s such as the Royal Millitairy Orchestra Johan Willem Friso.
