This disc represents the tenth musical adventure of Drums and Machines. Shaman was created as a sonic complement to a short film of the same name and as a stand alone collection of ten wildly varied songs spanning the rivers between ambient, industrial, rock, and tribal. Rod Marquart returns with stellar programming and an unerring eye for groove and flow on both sequencing and drumming. Chris Brown joins us on pecussion, and Jim D'Ambrogi on bass. Pierre Porter returns to the line-up once again bringing dreams and solid pressure to the guitar work. On this project the vocals of Clara Xavier shine and lend an drifting ambient counter-point to Stefan Schiebel's abrupt and guttural delivery. Karl Mohr's mastering talent is again evident in bringing together such a diverse range of sounds. This album is both melodic and soothing until it reaches up and slaps you in the face only to again salve your bruises and carry you away on the waves. You can drown in it, but it won't kill you.
