# On "Shake Some Action" This 1976 album represents a pivotal moment when a reformed band distilled decades of rock and roll tradition into something lean and purposeful. Rather than chase contemporary trends, Flamin' Groovies looked backward—to rhythm and blues, early rock, and girl-group harmonies—yet approached these sources with meticulous craft. Under guitarist Cyril Jordan's leadership, the band achieved a distinctive sound through disciplined songwriting and arrangement, letting melody and groove speak without pretension. The album's significance lies not in innovation but in commitment: demonstrating that thoughtful engagement with rock's roots could feel urgent and alive. It's worth hearing for anyone curious about how
