Serene Encounters is a five-track EP by Swedish composer Niclas Lundqvist, released in June 2025 on Canadian independent label Signal Alchemy. The EP’s centrepiece, “New Connections,” was inspired by a spontaneous evening on a boat in Stockholm, where the artist shared a series of late-night conversations with new acquaintances. The track captures the emotional atmosphere of that moment—ease, gratitude, and curiosity—through gentle instrumentation and restrained sound design. Soft synth pads and repeating piano figures are layered with lightly processed guitar, recorded in collaboration with a fellow musician. Background textures include subtle water sounds, anchoring the piece in a specific natural setting. Lundqvist is based in Stockholm and trained as a classical pianist in Lucerne, Switzerland. His compositional style is shaped by his work scoring films, series, and games, and he is known for crafting ambient soundscapes that function as narrative environments.
