Album
originally released as the self titled "The Fugs" album, The Fugs "Second Album" was the second album released by new york Underground Garage/Psychedelic Proto-Punk band The Fugs on indie label ESP-Disk in March of 1966, the recording quality of the album was a significant jump from their first endeavor and the "Virgin Fugs" sessions from the previous year, using things such as 4-track tape machines, which were top notch for the time. The album was recorded and produced from January-February 1966 until it was released in the following month. Despite it and the bands very controversial nature, the album managed to be a minor success in the United States peaking at number 95 on the Billboard 200, likely through word of mouth as the record received little to no air-play. The album has since been compared to Punk Rock, likely due to its "raw garage rock" sound and overtly satirical/political lyrics which some have compared to The Dead Kennedys. In 1993 the album was released on CD under the new title The Fugs "Second Album" (although a french vinyl pressing of the original 1966 album was also labelled as such) with additional tracks from 1966-1967 which would later be brought over to iTunes and various music streaming platforms, for which this release covers.
