Album
Scrolls of the Megilloth is the Christian extreme metal band Mortification's third release and second full length recording, released in 1992. The band's most famous release, this album is full-on death metal, with the thrash metal roots barely showing, and possibly their most extreme album to date. According to Allmusic, the album contains "some of the most frightening vocals ever recorded." Scrolls of the Megilloth has been recorgnized as a piece of Australian metal history. The album had as big impact on the 1990s Christian metal music as Stryper's To Hell with the Devil had on the 1980s Christian metal era. This album brought the band to the elite of the early 1990s death metal movement, is considered to be Mortification's best effort by many fans, and it became so respected and acclaimed that all the band's following releases would be compared to it. Bolstered by the album's popularity, the band worked with the film maker Neil Johnson, who directed and shot 4 music videos of the album, 3 of them released on the video compilation Grind Planets (1992).
