Album
Although released on her Jazz Doll label and using a rhythm section arranged by jazz pianist Bruce Barth, Liza Lee's recording is as much folk music as it is jazz. Her small voice takes a little getting used to, but it becomes more effective with each listen. Her sincerity in rendering the lyrics to a wide variety of songs makes the tunes sound like they were written for her even though she only actually composed the title cut. Clearly, Liza Lee only sings songs in which the words mean a lot to her, which gives deeper meaning to these renditions than they usually receive. This haunting disc is well worth checking out. ~ Scott Yanow, All Music Guide Released 2004 User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
