Sappho was an archaic Greek poet from the island of Lesbos. Sappho is known for her lyric poetry, written to be sung and accompanied by a lyre. She is also known as the first homossexual woman, her poems are erotical and many of them are lost by now, but beyond her poetry, she is well known as a symbol of love and desire between women and a lot of her works have been censored cause of it.
