SACRED HEART was released on Christmas 2022 during the wait for his 3rd studio album FUNERAL. This was a way to hold fans over with anticipated songs such as SO SICK, as they continued waiting for the delayed album. After FUNERAL was released, DC announced his 4th studio album REBIRTH, along with the PREBIRTH tour. During this tour, DC would say “Y'all ready for SACRED HEART 2?”. On October 7th, DC would make a post on Instagram with the caption “sacred heart 2” in Japanese. He’s also referred to the mixtape as “Holy Heart”, but it seems that the official name is still SACRED HEART 2. On December 5th, DC would post a message on his socials talking about his improved mental state (following his failed suicide attempt that occurred the month before) and would announce that because music is his only escape, SACRED HEART 2 would drop on Christmas 2023. The mixtape is expected to feature many anticipated songs that were scrapped from his last album FUNERAL as well as his upcoming album REBIRTH.
