Roots is the sixth studio album by the English Jazz Fusion band Nucleus, released under the name of both the band and its leader, trumpeter and composer Ian Carr. By 1972, Nucleus had evolved from it's original sound, closer to "pure" jazz as the band lineups changed (leaving Carr as the only original member that remained) This album in particular has a clear influence from funk and progressive rock, with tracks that are very progressive and extremelly atmospheric keyboards. - Ian Carr / trumpet - Brian Smith / tenor & soprano saxophones, flute & bamboo flute - Dave MacRae / piano, electric piano - Jocelyn Pitchen / guitar - Roger Sutton / bass - Clive Thacker / drums, percussion (2) - Aureo De Souza / drums (2), percussion - Joy Yates / vocals User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
