The Resident Evil 2 Original Soundtrack is the official score for Capcom’s 1998 survival horror game, Resident Evil 2 (known as Biohazard 2 in Japan). Composed by Masami Ueda, Shusaku Uchiyama, and Syun Nishigaki, the soundtrack captures the game’s tense atmosphere through a blend of ambient horror, industrial elements, and orchestral themes. These compositions utilize a recurring three-note motif to underscore the game’s themes of desperation and horror. The music adapts to various in-game environments, from the militaristic percussion in the streets of Raccoon City to the ominous piano melodies within the police station. In August 1998, Capcom released the Biohazard 2 Complete Track, which includes additional music not found in the original soundtrack, as well as sound effects, voice clips, and an interview with the sound team. For fans of the 2019 remake, a separate soundtrack was released on February 25, 2019, featuring 59 tracks and a total runtime of nearly 3 hours.
