Album
The "Reality" EP by Kether is a concept album independently released in 2008. The seven songs on the record each center on different perspectives on being in control of one's own sense of reality, and the sense of helplessness that comes along with being unable to maintain that control (characterized in one fashion in the track "Go Outside", and another in "Head Ache"). Along the way, many references (ranging from obvious to quite obscure) are made to different ways that one can take control of their "reality" and achieve some level of "freedom" for mind, body and spirit. The style of music on the record is "dark" electronic music that relies very heavily on samples, synthesizers and electronic effects. The album was produced in the home studio of lead singer Jason W over the course of 2007, being mostly constructed in Ableton Live 7. Kether's guitar player Tom Burt not only provided the guitar tracks but also did much of the mixing and mastering of the album. Some additional production was done by Jason's brother Shawn, as well as by Dave E, who would later join the band as its keyboard player. The cover art of Reality is an original design by The Paper Prophet based on the KetherBand sigil design by Jason W. and Shawn W.
