Album
Punkadelic was originally released in 1984, and was only ten tracks on two sides of vinyl (the remaining tracks on this CD release in 2007 were culled from other sources). The cover was designed by one of the greatest graphic artists of all time, Barney Bubbles (a.k.a. Colin Fulcher) with a nod here towards the German expressionists. It's basically a retread, most of the songs are re-recorded versions of earlier ICU "hits" (Watching The Grass Grow was also performed by Hawkwind at the Summer Solstice festival and is available on Do Not Panic: This Is Hawkwind). Unfortunately, lost.fm does not catalog the better works of ICU (The President's Tapes is probably their best album, and they recorded a totally insane record called "Ersatz" under the name The Imperial Pompadours (find THAT one if you can), but this is not a bad example of a band that never really took off, despite the fact that they were head and shoulders above the rest of the musical din of their time.
