In 2009, Rosaline Yuen and band have released a Limited edition Promotional Sampler featuring three new playful, quirky, rhythmic driven pop-rock tunes. Recorded in a little room above the Forum Theatre and at Ian’s home studio, Rosaline and her band members, Ian Kitney, Adam Thwaites and Chris Schurmann present three demo tracks to give you a taste of what’s to come. Like most of Rosaline’s songs, each of the songs was inspired by life’s bittersweet ups and downs, and tell a unique story . According to Rosaline, “After the show is about a musician I know who likes to kiss and tell. If you have to ask whether it’s about you, my standard answer is yes. The music was inspired by images of the circus and German Cabaret. My bassist Chris once described it as ‘cartoony’. I quite like that.” Rosaline describes her track Open Beast as ‘a song about power and assertion’, which was musically inspired by an ‘image of a tigress stalking the night jungle slowly but confidently.” A break away from the wispy melancholia that underscored many of her songs in her EP Garden is upbeat song Hotel Room. Rosaline says “I was going for a fun, catchy and unashamedly pop sound. Hotel Room is about having a one night stand in a foreign county. It’s become a bit of a crowd favourite at gigs.” User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
