Prequel is the first mini album by South Korean girl group Dreamcatcher. It was released on July 27, 2017, with “Fly High” serving as the title track. The album is the third installment of Dreamcatcher’s Nightmare Series and serves as a narrative prelude to the events depicted in their earlier single albums Nightmare and Nightmare · Fall Asleep in the Mirror. The album was released in two physical versions, titled Before and After. Japanese variants of both versions were also produced, featuring an additional DVD, a random photocard, and lyrics translated into Japanese. Musically, Prequel expands upon Dreamcatcher’s established rock-influenced sound while incorporating a wider range of styles, including electronic and ballad-oriented tracks. Prequel contains six tracks, including an instrumental version of the title song. “Before & After” functions as an introductory track that establishes the album’s conceptual framework. “Fly High” continues the group’s signature dark rock sound, while tracks such as “Wake Up,” “Sleep-walking,” and “Trust Me (괜찮아!)” showcase contrasting moods and emotional tones. Promotion for the album began on July 7, 2017, when a teaser scheduler was posted on the group’s official social media accounts, announcing the release of Dreamcatcher’s first mini album.
