Neil's debut single was released in June 2007 and won repeat plays across UK national radio as well as a warm, if somewhat confused, response from critics; comparisons ranging wildly from 'Bell X1 fronted by David Byrne' to 'a male Tracy Chapman'. The single launch in Sheffield on 25 June coincided with the worst flooding the city had seen in generations. On the 14 date tour that followed Neil was robbed, talked over, heckled by teachers, stranded at 2am with a blown head gasket and finally, physically attacked on stage at The Hertford Marquee.
