Plastic Soul Impalement is the first studio album by American band Training for Utopia, which was released on compact disc, cassette, and vinyl formats through Tooth and Nail Records subsidiary Solid State Records on March 3, 1998. The album is noted for the use of industrial interludes scattered across the recording ("Plastic Soul Impalement", "Black Forest", and the first half of "Two Hands") and would be the last for the group to feature their early metalcore sound. Part of the reason for the change was due to the fact that the band was somewhat unhappy with the album, though guitarist Don Clark named "A Good Feeling" as one of his personal favorite songs from the band. A music video for the track "Two Hands" was produced to promote the album, and was featured on the Tooth and Nail VHS compilation ''The T&N Files, Vol. 4''. Two covers exist for this album: the original was banned from Christian stores due to the depiction of dead bodies in the background, and thus a second cover was made depicting a tied down Ken doll with its chest torn open.
