Album
Pearl and the Pumpkin is a wonderful album which takes the listener on a journey from Littletown to Bermuda Island in the Carribean. The setting is a Halloween party gone awry. Joe Miller has brought his prized giant pumpkin to the contest with great expectations, but ends up on a pirate ship filled with ghosts headed for Bermuda. His girlfriend, Pearl Pringle, races along in another ship-- the HMS Boulderdash commanded by Captain Jinks. Unfortunately for all, there's a typhoon and Pearl is washed overboard and sinks. Luckily, she is wearing a magic Golden Conch necklace. After awakening on an Oyster bed, she meets several beautiful sea Fairies in an underwater kingdom called the Coral Caves. It all ends well, when Pearl and Joe are rescued from Denslow Island in Bermuda and taken back to Littletown. The album was released in 2000 and the show has been performed throughout the United States. It was performed at the Dramatists Guild in NYC. The musical is based on the writing of Frank Baum and W.W. Denslow who wrote and illustrated "The Wizard of OZ'. The show was originally performed on Broadway in 1905. It did well and then toured the United States. Dan took many of their ideas and updated them as well as adding all new music. Some of the song lyrics are from the book "Songs of Father Goose" by Frank Baum. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
