Psyphen's debut album, Ontogeny, is a striking mix of mood and energy, thought provoking themes, and dynamic song structures that elegantly push and pull through the entire album without letting up. Ontogeny was an album four long years in the making. As a 5 member band with diverse backgrounds and influences, coupled with a rigorous desire for achieving the integrity of the focused artistic vision intended with each song, Ontogeny became an elusive and difficult album to finish. Finally, in early 2012, Psyphen was able to finalize the vision for the album. In support of the music, Psyphen enlisted Bill Zahn, an acclaimed artist and brother to Psyphen's vocalist, Craig Zahn, to collaborate with Craig on the development of the album art. The finished product is visuals that mirror the mood, intensity and raw emotion of the music of the album.
