The first offering from Ruthie Veronica, created in late 2006 as part of the final assessment for completing her Bachelor of Commercial Music. Ruthie composed, featured piano and vocals, and also mastered the EP drawing on local talent to engineer and mix Ode To Ivory. The piano featured in the recording is none other then a concert hall Steinway Grand Piano and has produced a beautiful tone for the EP. Ruthie Veronica although evidently has a penchant for jazz and soul tunes, is Classically trained in piano, and this is evident in the level of skill demonstrated on the recordings. The first track If I Could Leave is an unusual composition based in 5/8 time but still maintaining an accessibility and catchiness that so many artists struggle to balance. The second track More of You is a heart felt ballad a little removed from your average love song, this piece is moving and infectious. The title track Ode To Ivory leads us out of the EP with a pure instrumental feature of the beautiful Steinway piano, here Ruthie demonstrates her technical prowess as well as a moving composition that would be at home on any epic film soundtrack.
