The album contains the tracks "Masquerade" and "Static", which both appeared on previous demos. a music video for "Copycat" was released in January 2008, followed by "A Vicious Reality", which was released in February 2008 on YouTube. On August 17, 2010, Deconbrio had posted on their Twitter and Facebook pages, telling those who had Obsessions of a False Idol to "get ready to delete it from your hard drive/mp3 player". Shortly after this announcement, Deconbrio posted a remastered version of the album to BandCamp, where fans now have the option to download the album as 320kbps MP3 files, AAC files or lossless FLAC files.
