Abel Quintero was born in Havana, Cuba on July 4, 1954 to Ildefonso and Ada Quintero and came to the United States on June 27, 1969 at the age of 14. He started his interest in music and playing guitar and piano at 16. And learned a few chords on guitar from a Beatles song book and although he never learned to play the guitar fluently, he used it and the piano to start writing songs.
