Album
Some seriously whimsical garage-pop-folk from central Africa, this early-'80s album by this Congo Brazzaville sextet combines gospel, minimalist pop and patriotic songs in some surprising ways. Check out the '60s psychedelic influence on "Jean 3.16," the reggae beat of "U Nungisa," or the ska/rockabilly mashup of the title track for instance, but it's all straight from the garage. Not a bit of slickness to be found anywhere! All original songs (no covers!), mostly written by guitarist Albert Loudi.
