January 2004 ARTIST: FROM ASHES RISE TITLE: NIGHTMARES RECORD LABEL: Jadetree REVIEW BY: Michael Delgado Imagine there was a boy who wanted, more than anything, to sing in a band, but all his vocal chords could manage was a sound like gravel sliding down a plate of sheet metal. Now imagine this kid met another boy with the same aspirations and monotone screams. Their only choice would be to join a hardcore metal band, and this band was a good choice for it to be, accompanied by quality, crackling instrumentation. Itβs probably for the best, since it seems the images swirling through their heads are those of blood red skies and weapons shooting out from the fires of hell, and frankly those kinds of images and hardcore metal go hand in hand.
