Album
Night Train was recorded by the Oscar Peterson Trio in late 1962 and released in 1963 under the Verve label. Supervised by Peterson's manager, jazz impresario Norman Granz, the record is a high point of the trio's discography and is a highly notable example of the group's blues-oriented style of playing. "Hymm To Freedom", written in honor of Martin Luther King Jr., became an unofficial anthem of the Civil Rights movement.
