Mirage is a compilation of several ideas of sound that had been spinning in Steve's mind for years. He was looking for new ways to create music and in the creative musings brought loops in with live production to create a menagerie of melody and effect. Produced in his St Paul studio in 2005, the album is a distillation of many earlier musical experiments. With the surge of technology that hit the music scene in the early 80's, and the advanced computer abilities of the early nineties, Steven Gores worked for years, obsessively, and often with little sleep, to learn the technical bible of computer-assisted production of keyboard music. The creative potential of the new tools seemed endless. As a result, Steven Gores is one of the earliest solo-producers of synth compositions. In the production of Mirage, Steven used various software programs including Sony Acid and Cakewalk Sonar; and a mix of keyboards: Korg, Alesis, Kurzweil, Roland and Yamaha. However, he still honors the organic classic sound of his ivory grand piano. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
