about this album

Joan Manuel Serrat added music to the wonderful poetry if this young Spaniard. Born in 1910, in Orihuela, Miguel published his firs work when he was only 23 years old. Due to his active support to the Republic during the Spanish Civil War, Hernández was detained and sentenced to 30 years of imprisonment, where he kept writing. He was in jail when he learned that her wife and their 8 months old son had only a couple of onions to eat. That knowledge led him to write "nanas de la cebolla", which can be heard on this album with Joan Manuel Serrat's music and voice. In jail in Alicante, Miguel died because of the poor health condition the prison life had given him. It was March 28, 1942.
