“Melt” is the debut solo album by Not for Radio, the artistic moniker of María Zardoya, best known as the lead singer of the indie band The Marías. Released on October 10, 2025, through Atlantic Records, the album represents a significant transition in Zardoya’s career, marking her first major project apart from the group. Recorded in early 2025 at Flying Cloud Recordings in upstate New York, the record emerged from a period of self-reflection and renewal, inspired by the quiet, frozen landscapes that surrounded the sessions. Conceptually, Melt explores themes of transformation, emotional thawing, and the delicate relationship between human nature and the natural world. The title itself symbolizes both physical and emotional melting — a dissolution of barriers and a rediscovery of self. The album blends dream-pop, trip-hop, and psychedelic soul, evoking comparisons to acts like Portishead and Massive Attack, while maintaining Zardoya’s signature bilingual lyricism and soft, cinematic vocals. The record features ten tracks, including the standout singles “My Turn,” “Swan,” and “Vueltas.” The latter, sung in Spanish, connects to Zardoya’s Latin roots and reinforces her multilingual identity as an artist. Produced in collaboration with Sam Evian and Luca Buccellati, Melt is described by critics as a haunting yet intimate collection of songs, where minimalist beats, lush textures, and whispered vocals intertwine to form an atmosphere that feels both melancholic and hypnotic.
