"Megadeth" is the seventeenth and final studio album by the American thrash metal band Megadeth. It was produced by Dave Mustaine and Chris Rakestraw and released on 23 January 2026. The album is the band’s only release to feature guitarist Teemu Mäntysaari and the first since "Endgame" (2009) to include bassist James LoMenzo. The album was announced on 14 August 2025, alongside confirmation of a farewell tour. Four singles were issued in advance of the release: "Tipping Point", "I Don't Care", "Let There Be Shred", and "Puppet Parade". Critical reception was mixed to positive. The album became the band’s only release to reach number one on the Billboard 200, with 73,000 units. In December 2024, Dave Mustaine stated via social media that production had begun with Chris Rakestraw. At that time, other band members were not present in the studio due to the holiday period, while Mustaine and Teemu Mäntysaari worked on material remotely. Mustaine indicated that full studio sessions would commence shortly after Christmas. By June 2025, the album was nearing completion, and Mustaine shared updates of vocal recording. The album was formally revealed on 14 August 2025 through a promotional trailer featuring the band’s mascot Vic Rattlehead and an accompanying statement from Mustaine, both indicating that the release would be the band’s final studio album.
