MAU (English: BAD) is the third solo album by singer, songwriter and producer Jaloo, released on October 25, 2023, ending the trilogy that began with her first album, #1 (2015). This project was entirely composed, produced and performed by the artist from Pará. “The planning for this trilogy has been going on for almost ten years, but Mau was created during the pandemic.” In Mau, the artist combines the sonic effervescence of the Amazon with in-depth research into synthesizers and new electronic elements. The songs address themes such as sexuality, freedom and the dichotomy between good and evil. “The album has this symbolism of making peace with your shadows. The cover is exactly that. I embrace my darkest side with affection and care, making it part of me. There’s this place of acceptance,” says the singer.
