Album
Lylac is :papercutz's debut full length-album foray into experimental pop. Whereas "Articulated Forms" (:papercutz's demo album) presented through the point of view of an observer, the life of one individual on a urban cosmopolitan center that lives of articulated pieces and forms and from which it depends to function, in "Lylac" all attention is turned towards the interior debate of this being, through his disenchantment of a society much too centered in it's rationality without any inclination to our intuitive and emotional side. Thus the use of jazz colours in "Articulated Forms", a sound that represents so well a moving city. In "Lylac" there's a simpler music, an attention to acoustic instruments and closed spaces and the use of classic dreamlike melodies representing his interior debate and past remembrances. In "Lylac"'s lyrics comes the need to answer simple but essential questions like "Who am I? ", "Where do I belong?" and "Who I want to become?". "Lylac" intends to describe the reflective process of growth and maturity, the passage from a passive role and of mere observer to an active and introspective role. Lylac is The SELF.
