Luzazul is a group from Portugal and the Netherlands which combines influences from different worlds. Brazil, Flamenco, Portuguese Fado, African and groovy organic beats come together and form a passionate and warm sound, original and unique. The virtuoso flamenco guitar, the caracteristic sound of the wurlitzer, groovy bass and subtile rhythms, together with the warm voice of Magda Mendes, form the basis of the sound of Luzazul. The Portuguese/Dutch band, brought together by Martijn Morselt, has released an impressive debut CD. A CD with intimate songs, varying from delicious sunny to melancholic passion, and which was received by de media with enthusiasm. For the live performances Luzazul has formed a very strong band, with the spicy flamenco guitarist Alain Labrie (Da Gaia, Labrienco), pianist/keyboard player Emiel van Rijthoven (Sensual) en groovy percussionists Udo Demandt (Primos del Norte, Monsieur Dubois) and Roël Calister (At’awó, Orange Groove, Izaline Calister, SaraTavares).
