Love and Loss is a year of EEE packing their previous quarter-of-an-hour jams into 3-4 minute pop-tinged tracks, turning up the low end, then adding layer after layer of intricate vocal overdubs. What emerged from the process is a succinct song cycle that, while finding touch points in the band’s influences–Nite Flights-era Walker Brothers, Two Daughters, Chris and Cosey, Galaxie 500, Emeralds, James Blake–defies categorization while remaining incredibly accessible.
