From the insert: This record is dedicated to Marshall Peck, Nick Garcia, Matt Deskis, and Dees Stribling. Critically acclaimed blues artist David Jimenez performs slide guitar on the song, Topple (If I Could). Trey Ybarbo, bassist for Austin's most notorious metal band, Shrapnel, plays on I Don't Care. (He also did the artwork for the album covers.) Running Out Of Things To Say is about Peck's distaste with the Austin music scene. Monte left Austin, TX and moved to Lincoln, NE 13 days after this record was released. This record is #2 in a 4 part set. The record's title, LIKE A PARTHIAN SHOT, references a "parthian shot" which is a battle technique developed and perfected by the Parthians. Parthia is a region of north-eastern Iran, best known for having been the political and cultural base of the Arsacid dynasty, rulers of the Parthian Empire. This particular military tactic was executed while on horseback. The riders would feign retreat; then, while at a full gallop, turn their bodies back to shoot at the pursuing enemy. The maneuver required superb equestrian skills, since the rider's hands were occupied by his bow.
