"Lightning Bolt" was Lightning Bolt's debut into the limelight in 1999 being released originally under Load Records which is a now-defunct experimental music label from Lightning Bolt's hometown of Providence, Rhode Island. It is by far there most raw and clashing project being released as infamously Chippendale and Gibson were not happy with the original studio recordings of the album and went instead with live recordings taken from their shows giving it a more open and crunchy sound.
