Light Chasers is the eighth full-length studio album by the American indie rock band Cloud Cult. It was first released via the band’s website on June 28, 2010, and more widely in stores on September 14, 2010 through Earthology Records, the band’s independent label. Background and Concept The album was written during the pregnancy and early months following the birth of Craig and Connie Minowa’s son, Nova. He was their first child after the death of their son Kaidin in 2002, a tragedy that had a lasting impact on the band’s work. Much of the writing took place during sleepless nights, with Craig composing lyrics while rocking the newborn. Craig Minowa has described Light Chasers as a concept album about a crew journeying to the edge of the cosmos in search of the light at the end of the tunnel, a metaphor for humanity’s search for meaning and purpose.
