Life in the Twenties is the 1st Album by James Ragbone. Meant as a showcase for his songwriting, it was first self released as an 11 track album through his website www.jamesragbone.com in the latter half of 2008. He is accompanied by Luis Tariq on Electric Guitar, Rachael Nelken on Cello and Simon Hayman on Congas at different points in the album but a lot of the songs are performed raw, with just gravelly vocals and acoustic guitar providing a full sound. After a couple more years of writing James decided to edit the original album and add more tracks to make a compilation of songs written between 1993 and 2010. The result is a re-release of Life in the Twenties, but a new, longer and much improved version. The 16 Tracks featured on this album tip a nod to the likes of Tom Waits, Paul Weller, Bob Dylan and the whole gruff voiced Blues Generation. Each song tells an individual story from Ragbone's life and observations from living in London, Lisbon and South West England. This Album covers a vast range of subject matter with a well crafted poetic style that's well worth investing some time in if you are captivated by the singer songwriter generations of days gone by.
