"Leap Year" is Hoodie Allen’s third mixtape. The theme of the album is chasing dreams. At the time he created it, Hoodie was a college student and working for Google. He was “stretching himself too thin” trying to study, work, and make music. This was his test year, or leap year to see if he could make it in music. "I was like “OK, you have 12 months to this day to evaluate your decision. Make sure to make every day count. Go for it whole-heartedly.” He had to decide whether to keep working at Google or to pursue his passion of music full-time. "Leap Year" heavily features sampling and interpolation. "I think "Leap Year" is really different because it’s my first truly personal project – I feel super comfortable talking about my life, and my missteps, insecurities, relationships and that’s cool for me, because I think a new or old fan will hear it and learn more about me by the time they are done listening."
