Later Than You Think is the sixth studio album by American musician and academic John Maus, released on September 26, 2025, through the British independent label Young. The album opens with the lead single “Because We Built It,” a poetic meditation on collective guilt and systemic change, following his earlier single “I Hate Antichrist” . Recorded in the Ozarks of southwest Missouri, the 16‑track collection spans themes of grief, justice, rebirth, and spiritual warfare. Maus describes the work as “aural metaphysics,” where emotion, intellect, and spirit converge in a search for meaning and transformation. This marks his first release on YOUNG and continues the trajectory set by his previous five studio albums—Songs, Love Is Real, We Must Become the Pitiless Censors of Ourselves, Screen Memories, and Addendum. Track highlights include “Disappears,” “Reconstruct Your Life,” “Shout,” and the title‑like closer “Adorabo,” each showcasing his blend of lush and bare, sacred and profane, minimalist discipline and maximalist indulgence.
