Martin Meyer - Last Night (released 2009) Singer and songwriter Martin Meyer just released a new solo studio CD titled “Last Night.” Last Night is an entertaining mix of folk rock, soft mellow almost bluesy acoustic music and sultry ballads. His warm and smooth style is grounded on that “meyer-sound” of rich guitar tone and clean, clear vocals with tasteful harmonica. The CD at various times has a vibe of Bruce Springsteen, Eric Clapton to Johnny Cash and Bob Dylan. I would even go as far as Tom Petty, Neil Young and Leonard Cohen. The late jazz great guitarist Joe Beck has noted Martin as a, “…prolific songwriter who adds depth and emotion to his work.” Check out the song, “What Would I Do?” written for The Goldstar Family Foundation for example. All the instruments and vocals on this project were played exclusively by the Martin Meyer. He wrote and recorded the CD over a one year period using both digital and analog equipment which gave this CD a very “silky” sound. Martin’s performance is not loud and overpowering but rather subtle and inviting. It is a CD that has great stories to tell through music and will hold your attention. Check out the track “Alone” we loved it! User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
