Recorded and produced by Tristram Rothenberger at his Vancouver studios in 2011, Caracas (Javier Badillo, drums/vocals and Victor Badillo, guitars/vocals) debut demo tape "Juxtapose the Bleak" was recorded live, raw and fast - in line with the duo's background in Latin music and Punk rock. The five songs speak of getting through hardships related to social alienation, self esteem, abandoned love, and immigration. A collection of bleak subjects juxtaposed over upbeat melodies and rhythms, indicated succinctly in the demo's title. The record was positively received in the indie scene as something of an original oddity, and led to shows, interviews and live performances at various college radio stations in Vancouver, and even to a song being aired on national radio at the two brothers' country, Venezuela. The demo cover photo was taken by Javier Badillo during a North Vancouver winter in 2004, one year after having immigrated to Canada. Currently, the band is finishing a three song EP (May 2013), recorded at District 4 studios by producer Aidan Rantoul.
