Recorded in Los Angeles between August 1984 and June 1985, this rare LP features John Larkin on piano, Joe Farrell on tenor saxophone, Clark Woodard on drums, and Bob Harrison on bass. In a 1996 interview, Larkin stated he still had hundreds of copies of the album in his home. More of the recordings from these sessions were released in 2006 on the "Clark Woodard Joe Farrell" album. While this was the first album ever released under Larkin's own name, his first debut on a record was on Sam Phipps' Animal Sounds, released in 1981. He was also heavily featured on the extremely rare 1982 Sam Phipps release, "Silent Night", a cassette featuring tracks recorded at KPFP in Los Angeles of Phipps and Larkin playing together. The recordings featured on this cassette were later featured on the 2007 CD and digital re-releases of Animal Sounds. The only other jazz album ever released by John "Scatman" Larkin was a collection of jazz standards recorded in Studio City in 1990 and later posthumously released by Stunt Records in 2001 on the "Listen To The Scatman" album. According to rumors, after the Summer 1999 release of the album "Take Your Time", released under his stage name Scatman John, Larkin wanted to 'return to his roots' and record another jazz album, but these plans never came to fruition as he was diagnosed with lung cancer and sadly passed on December 3rd, 1999.
