After experiencing heartbreak, Emilee wrote and produced this EP in the span of four days during May 2020. After sending the demos to producer Jaydon Lewis, the songs became refurbished and polished to their current sound. The first track, “if we knew better,” is about a situation in which the two people in a relationship know that they shouldn’t be together but stay with each other anyway because of the comfort they bring one another. “it is what it is” is about one person not putting in as much effort into the relationship as the other. This person acknowledges their toxic behavior and refuses to change because they don’t care enough about their significant other. “neverland” follows the person being mistreated. They know they deserve better but have a hard time letting go, so they escape in their thoughts and dreams. Lastly, “away” follows the mistreated person post-breakup. They easily throw away and hide all the things they have that remind them of their ex. However, they have a harder time facing their memories and emotions when they revisit certain places that remind them of that person.
