about this album

The Shipwrecks are an American band formed in 2000 in Brooklyn, NY. The band started as a vehicle for the poetry of Frank Morris. The project initially began with Chris Smith and Martin Small (both of Smit Haus) on guitar. Jeff Buda was brought in to play drums. Hex Lubinger sat in on a practice session in place of Martin Small and the project clicked. Eventually, Ryan Sackrider replaced Buda on drums and Smith took up the bass, thus setting up the classic lineup of the band. The band played many New York City area clubs (CBGB OMFUG, The Continental, Acme Underground ) building a loyal following. Hex Lubinger once described the bands sound as 'something that knocks you over and then starts kicking you in the ribs.' In 2001, the band decided to take a break. Smith returned to Smit Haus full time. Morris worked with Bad Morris and The Latin Blacks. Lubinger began recording material for a solo project working with Sackrider who han
