Thrash, power, and melody are deftly mixed on the debut from Venia. Venia hails from Finland and delivers tasty thrashy power metal fronted by female vocals. The music is always driving with in-your-face guitar, driving beats, and great melodies, yet it also finds a way to envelope you with Veronica's sweet angelic voice juxtaposed against occasional extreme vocals (many of which are delivered by her) and the inclusion of violin. Venia garnered a great following after the self-release of their 7-song demo. In Our Weakness is the first official album by the band and the follow-up to that demo, featuring better song-writing and super improved production. The result features 5 songs (all but one sung in English) that will cause your head to spin and leave you begging for more. Venia is recommended for fans of Iron Maiden, Iced Earth, Symphony X, Oratorio, Rob Rock, and anyone who enjoys melodic, power, or thrash metal.
