Dalglish is one of the monikers of underground IDM legend Chris Douglas. Known for his work with O.S.T, he opened for Autechre on their Confield tour at their request. Under the O.S.T moniker, Douglas initially burst onto the scene in 1992, releasing the futuristic ‘Basilar EP’ which was an important stepping stone to a sound that would only later be deemed ‘IDM’. Five full length limited edition album’s later, Douglas worked with label mate ‘Emanate’ to put out the ‘Deflect LP’. It was within this album that they produced a sound that would form the foundation for the type of music witnessed on ‘Ideom’, a sound that married noisier, random beats with beautiful melodies. On hearing ‘Ideom’ however, melodic traces are reduced to their bare bones whilst the random nature of the beats is perpetuated alongside a more atmospheric and industrially tinged sound. With ‘Ideom’, Dalglish has achieved a near perfect balance of atmospheric ambience and complex glitchtronica to create a unique brand of music that has the power to take hold of the listener and not let go until long after the disc has stopped rotating!!
