I Cry When You Cry The Bodies Obtained Finding You Attractive Records Aversion.com review Psychology is great about taking all kinds of nasty bits and pieces and cramming them into the darkest, deepest and hardest to reach recesses of the psyche and closing the door upon them where they can sit and rest in peace. The Bodies Obtained are great at prying that door open a crack, sliding into those ugly little recesses and wriggling around in them. The Detroit band returns with its third album and it looks more content to mingle in those dark corridors of the mind on I Cry When You Cry. Marshaling a world full of rumbling low ends and crystalline programming that barely contains the band's joy at wallowing in despair, the band could be a collaboration between Vangelis and Franz Kafka. I Cry When You Cry picks the locks on the doorway to the cellars of your mind, and The Bodies Obtained peer down in voyeuristic glee. Although the band's refining its sound to the point where it's getting tougher and tougher to pluck at its individual influences, I Cry When You Cry's blend of netherworld electronics and post-punk organic sounds certainly finds common ground with a lot of acts whose albums should be in your collection -- Nick Cave's various bad-news projects, Suicide and The Residents all seem to hold the biggest pull over the band.
