“IF YOU SING BEFORE BREAKFAST, YOU WILL CRY BEFORE NIGHT” There may be some truth in this old saying. Luckily for Frank, he sung mostly in the evening. But he have also cried, especially in recent years when illness have sometimes put the brakes on his endeavours on the music scene. But now he's back in great form with his first-ever solo album, which includes good friends such as Ivan Pedersen and Allan Mortensen providing strong backing vocals. HOW IT ALL BEGAN In Franks childhood home they had a piano and lots of music on the Danish island of Funen (Fyn), where his mother took him to see the city orchestra concerts and ordered him to take piano lessons. But when the teacher dismissed his homemade alternatives to études, he continued to learn on his own. His voice developed, and one day he gathered up all his courage and sang his heart out in a viaduct – for the reverb! The echo quickly reached the youth clubs and community centres. “He sounds like Steve Winwood,” said the grapevine. In 1965 he joined his first band ‘The Burtons’ and soon after, ‘The Baronets’ with Lasse Helner, among others. ELVIS WAS HERE! Frank matured, and the music world saw him as one of the few ‘white’ guys with a ‘black’ voice. The Baronets were soon numbered among Denmark’s finest bands and they performed in virtually every kind of venue, and even played concerts with international names such as Procol Harum, Bee Gees, The Kinks and The Who.
